Go Cubs Go!!

This past weekend Will, Sammy & I traveled to Chicago to spend time with the Finis (Katy, Ray, Anna & Kara).
We had a great weekend!! Saturday afternoon was spent at the DuPage Children's Museum in Naperville (a great place if you are looking for something to do on a rainy day in Naperville (or any day for that matter)...lots of great hands-on activities for kids of all ages...and I really mean all ages...I'm not sure who had more fun in the bubble room Sam & Anna or Will & Katy :) hehe
Here is photo proof of Will & Katy 'helping' the kids play with the bubblesAnd Sunday, we got to see the Cubs win the exciting conclusion of the series with the Twins at Wrigley....Here are some fun pictures of the game....

Anna & Kara both slept through about 4 innings :) That blanket in Ray's arms is Kara.

Sammy and Will posing for the camera with Anna watching on.
Our seats were about as far into left field you can get without sitting on the rooftops, which made it a little far away for the kids to really watch much of the game..haha, but we did have great seats for the kids to have plenty of room to 'move around' and even had a bar in front of us that Sam decided was perfect for hanging like a monkey.

Helping Pat Hughes sing Take me Out to the Bal Game. Sam is watching the very enthusiastic people behind us :)

So, one of my last posts mentioned that Sammy was a great weeder.
I finally captured him 'in the act'....

Summertime Fun with Sammy

Okay - So, I know I'm officially the worst blogger ever!
My last post was about Easter...and I was late getting that posted.
So, I thought I would start with some more recent adventures and see if I can start getting better about blogging more regularly.

Sam has been enjoying lots of outdoor activities lately thanks to the great weather we have been having. Here are a few highlights:

Gardening: We planted a vegetable garden at Grandma & Grandpa Swain's house in Jacksonville. Sammy LOVED helping dig in the dirt:
We also have lots of great plants in our backyard (thanks to the previous owners...Will and I haven't been very good about keeping up with them over the past 3 years)...so, Sam and I have been trying our hand at cleaning up the things that don't belong...he is the best darn weeder I know :) hehe

Running: Will and I have recently started getting back into shape to prepare for a 5K this August in Jacksonville and Sam prefers to run with us rather than enjoy a ride in the jogging stroller :) Right now, he goes just the right pace for mommy and daddy to keep up, but it isn't going to be long before he can outrun us!

Biking: I am horrible and forgot to write down the exact date when this happened, but Sam can now ride his tricycle using the pedals without any help from an adult :)

Baseball: Sam LOVES to hit the ball off of his tee and play catch with his friend Mark (Mark is our neighbor who just retired and brings his glove and ball over regularly to play with Sam) One of these days I'm going to get a picture of the two of them.

And the final thought for this blog...this past weekend after we got back from the Zoo with Grandma & Grandpa Howerter, Aunt Mimi, Uncle Andy & Jojo, Sam had his first treat from the Ice Cream man (I didn't know they still had those until I heard the music coming from down the street). Here are is a picture of Sam enjoying his treat:

Easter 2009

Yes, I know Easter was a while ago...I'm still trying to get my blog caught up, so decided today would be a good day to post a recap of our Easter weekend.

On Saturday, we headed to Loves Park, IL to celebrate Easter with the 'Tresemer clan'. For those of you who don't know who that is, Tresemer is my mother's maiden name. And over the last couple of years the family has officially grown into 'clan' size..haha
There are now 5 kiddos in Sam's generation, so my Aunt Jackie hosted an Easter Egg hunt for them. We had such a great time. I unfortunately didn't capture any pictures, but Sam's favorite part of the day was playing with the cousins' in the 'Zebo' (Gazeebo) and swinging in the hammock with Jordan & Emma. I did capture a few pics from the hunting.....

Ready to start hunting

A little help from Daddy
Relaxing with cousin Emma
Since we were all dressed up after Sunday church services, we took a couple of fun pictures of Mommy & Sammy and Daddy & Sammy(notice the matching ties. Aren't they handsome!!)....next year we'll get the three of us together..haha

Sammy's 2nd Birthday

Hi Friends & Family -
First, I better apologize for the delay in getting this post on the blog....it is a bit overdue.
Sammy turned 2 on April 3rd and on the 4th we celebrated his birthday with a 'Sammy's house party' with friends and family. Here are a few pictures of the festivities:

Daddy helping to put together Sammy's new wheelbarrow while Sammy takes a break to rest in his new chair while enjoying a sucker :)

The Tumble bus stopped for a visit during the birthday celebration. All of the kids are anxiously awaiting their instructions below.

American Idol -- Season 24

I think we have found your American Idol -- Season 24......

From a very early age Sam has loved music. We started going to Kindermusik class when he was only 5 months old, He gave his first 'piano recital' at grandma's house before he was 1 (I need to get a copy of that video and post it here for those of you who haven't seen it), and recently he started giving us 'Rock Star' concerts with his guitar.

Last night we discovered that he can sing an entire song all by himself. Okay, so it isn't an entire song, but he is able to get through the entire part of the song that daddy taught him. We call it 'The Peaches Song'.

If you would like to sing along with Sam, here are the lyrics...."Peaches come in a can, they were put there by a man, in a factory downtown....."
